Questions You need to ask before Hysterectomy

In the first place you need to know what hysterectomy operation is? It’s an operation done in order to remove the uterus. Hysterectomy is done in order to prevent excess bleeding and when the medications fail to stop this excess bleeding and when there is no other way to stop it.

At times without checking the alternatives, the womb might be removed. Now, let’s discuss the scenarios where this kind of situation might arise.

1. If there is no expected result by using medicines or by injecting hormones.
2. When the treatments like D. and C. aren’t effective

5. When there are diseases like fibroids, prolapse, and edenomyosis to the womb.

B. Is there a necessity of removing the womb along with the uterus?

C. In what way is the anesthesia given? How many days should I stay in the hospital? How many days would it take to recover completely?
D. What is the cost of the operation? Is there a necessity of treatments like HRT after the operation?

Steps performed before the operation:

1. Endometrial biopsy and Pop smear tests are mandatory to conform that there is no cancer to the womb.

2. Blood test, urine test, x-ray, ECG and various tests are mandatory before deciding on the date of the operation to assess the health condition of the patient.

3. High blood pressure, diabetes, diseases related to heart and lungs are the most critical diseases which may risk the life of the patient, if present at the time of the operation. So, only after regulating the mentioned diseases do the operation is performed.
These steps are very important before performing an operation because in order to plan a healthy outcome.

After the operation:

No matter what the operation is, there is a little bit of risk involved. But, the health of the patient(prior to the operation) creates a significant difference on the effects after the  operation.
A. There is a possibility of heavy bleeding, shock or injuries to nearby organs.
B. Some major operations do involve an impending danger to the surrounding muscular tissues.

C. At times, the bacteria that resides near the vagina and uterus enter the birth Canal at the time of the operation and reach the stomach causing infections.
D. Urinary infections, infections in lungs, pneumonia risk is most common after the operation.

E. The blood circulation might get blocked causing deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism which are the most dangerous health conditions. But, the chances to arrive at this point are very rare and are negligible. So, there is no need to be that worried being little careful is always safe.

F. Sometimes there is a possibility of the intestines getting shrunk or hernia may  come at the point of the insection and imbalance of hormones due to the removal of uterus, difficulties related to marriage life, depression, inconvenience at the time of using the toilet.

But, all these are on the other side of the coin. Be confident and eat good food and take good medication in order to reduce the after affects.
